Beautiful pictures! The people seem to like and welcome you! What a blessing❤️
Fantastic photos Diane – you have an eye for the art!!
Cultures are celebrated in every corner of the world with varying degrees of pomp and pandemonium; some honor sacred customs, and some are just beyond bizarre. Most intriguing is Turkey’s must-see annual camel wrestling event, which combines all the elements of ancient tradition with carnival flair, and rates as one of the most spectacular cultural experiences...
Hong Kong is an illustrious verb among nouns with her endless percussion of movement and unceasing rivers of traffic pulsating through the streets. She moves like an unstoppable tide of departures and arrivals, her million upon a million footfalls swarm through the shifting tableauxs of metallic canyons, monolithic giants of concrete, glass and steel. Her hours...
I never tire of your work. Here at Auburn, Alabama, home of Auburn University, we have a decent number of foreign students. My son has had many friend from China. When asked what they like the most about the U. S. and Auburn…we get stunning answers. One of the most frequent happens to be emergency services! Of all things! BUT, as your photos show, the space available for fire trucks and so on is very limited and one friend from Shanghai so noted that it was so crowded that a simple fire could take out blocks and blocks before being controlled.
My friends and family say they live vicariously through my travels, and they are always hungry to hear about my latest “adventure.” It makes for great conversation, and inevitably, there are always fascinating stories to tell. But the pure, unadulterated truth is this: the most significant journey I have taken has not been a geographical...
Beautifully said…the images are awe-inspiring. Just gorgeous, Di.
Wonderfully illustrated some of “all of creation”!
I truly envy your amazing artistic skill that always tell a story!

WOW! Great video, and its awesome to see some of your travels!
Amsterdam is arguably one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in all of Europe. Originally a fishing village, it is the capital and largest city in the Netherlands which boasts of world-famous museums, international restaurants, and historical sights, yet has medieval charm with its winding, cobblestone streets, pulsing with people and traffic. The intricate...
Dianne, as much as you love cycling I am glad you resisted any temptation you may have had in joining the melee of pedalers on the streets. I also find it interesting that in Amsterdam there are more parking garages (or carparks) that exclusively house bicycles than autos. Your photos, as usual, are stunning. Your play on light and shadow is exquisite, allowing the beauty of the bloom to come forward. Thanks for sharing :).
Thanks for sharing a glimpse of Amsterdam, Dianne, both written and photographic. It is exciting for me that you are able to explore lands I can only read and hear about. Your travels are our luxury.
The photos and the information are very tempting…as I am going to Amsterdam in the summer (inşallah!), I am more and more encouraged to experience what you did… and like you I think I will avoid biking there:-), and will prefer walking instead to the museums and galleries, take trains to the cities nearby, and get lost in the streets, and take a breath at cafes sipping coffee…and rest my eyes looking at the most beautiful flowers…
Thanks for sharing…
“We do not see the world as it is. We see the world as we are.” ~ Talmud Travel is truly an exercise in perception. Nothing will shake you up more than being immersed in a foreign culture. Sure, the mystique, the aura, and the romance of living abroad cannot be rivaled, but it also...
The 16 months that you have lived in Turkey, I must say you’ve not wasted any time enjoying your surroundings. One thing you said was “Consider that India is the only country that has not invaded another country in 10,000 years, yet its culture has ruled Southeast Asia, China, and Japan through its philosophy, religion, science, and cosmology for the last century.” That’s amazing. Even in America, you see the culture woven in our fabric. Thanks for sharing your travel notes and pictures.
